Affordwise ("we", "us", "our") is an Ireland-based home buying information platform. We are committed to protecting your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Acts 1988–2018.

When you use our affordability calculator or submit an enquiry form, we may collect:

  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number
  • Financial inputs: income figures, savings amount (provided voluntarily)
  • Preference data: county, property type, first-time buyer status
  • Calculated estimates: budget, repayment figures (generated by us)
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide personalised affordability estimates and scheme eligibility checks
  • Connect you with mortgage broker partners (only if you request this)
  • Send a one-time confirmation email if you submit an enquiry
  • Improve our service and understand how our tools are used

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects.

4. Legal Basis

We process data on the basis of legitimate interest (providing our information service) and consent (where you choose to submit an enquiry form). You may withdraw consent at any time.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

  • Mortgage broker partners — only where you have requested contact and consented
  • Service providers (hosting, email delivery) — under data processing agreements
  • Regulatory or law enforcement bodies where required by law

6. Data Retention

Lead enquiry data is retained for up to 24 months. Technical logs are retained for 90 days. You may request deletion at any time.

Under GDPR, you have the right to: access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) at dataprotection.ie.
